John is a Managing Director of SRA with 35 years of regulatory experience with the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC). In his various supervisory and managerial roles with the OCC he was responsible for overseeing the supervision of National Banks. John’s responsibilities required frequent interaction with senior management teams, boards of directors of National Banks and their parent company boards. He worked closely with the OCC’s Special Supervision Division drafting and enforcing administrative actions and oversaw the efforts of banks to revise and remediate their practices to comply with regulatory actions and expectations. He has a broad working knowledge of commercial and consumer banking related laws and regulations.
Since his retirement from the OCC in October 2009, John has primarily consulted with banks related to safety and soundness and compliance matters. During this time, his primary focus has been in the areas of corporate governance, risk management, consumer compliance, AML/BSA, compliance with regulatory actions, and loan review. He has assisted clients with addressing the requirements of regulatory actions to ensure regulatory expectations are met, providing boards with opportunities to enhance credible challenge initiatives, evaluating the effectiveness of policies and procedures, evaluating the effectiveness of enterprise risk management programs, and providing training on the requirements of laws and regulations.
Mr. Curtis holds a Bachelor of Business Administration, Accounting, from Texas A & I University, Kingsville, Texas, currently known as Texas A & M University-Kingsville.
